friends for life

Privacy policy

What we keep about you, who touches it, how long it stays, and how to take it or delete it. Last updated 9 September 2026.

  1. Who we are

Friends for Life is run by Shaw and Partners. The person responsible for your data is Chris Shaw, [email protected]. Write there for anything about your data.

  2. What we keep

Your name, your email, your city and your time zone. Your daily answers and your course answers. The reactions you give, your friendship deposits, your poll votes and anything you post in the threads. Which pairs you are in and which one pays. We keep no photos, no contacts, no location beyond the city you typed.

  3. Why we keep it

To run the pair: your friend needs to see your answer after the reveal, and the daily mail needs your address. Your city is for the live nights near you. Your time zone sets when a day ends. That is the whole list; we do not profile you and we do not advertise.

  4. Who else touches it

Cloudflare hosts the app and stores the data. Plunk sends the mail. Stripe takes payments; we never see your card. Logto handles sign-in. Each of them holds only what it needs for its job. Nobody buys your data from us, and nobody ever will.

  5. Who can see your answers

One person: the friend in your pair, and only after you have both sealed that day. Community posts are visible to everyone in the community, under your first name. Our staff read the community only to handle a report.

  6. How long it stays

Two years from the last time it was touched, then it expires on its own. A pair nobody has opened for two years is gone.

  7. Your data, your choices

In settings you can download everything we hold about you as one file, change your name, email, city or time zone, turn the mail off, leave a pair, or delete your account. Deleting wipes your answers, reactions, deposits, poll votes and settings in every pair, and any nights-out interest or live-event row with your address; your friend keeps her own words and sees you as a friend who left. Anything you posted in the threads stays, signed “a friend who left”.

  8. Cookies and storage

We set no tracking cookies. Your phone keeps a small token so it remembers which pair you are in; sign out or leave and it is gone.

  9. Your rights

You can ask for a copy, a correction or a deletion at any time, from settings or by email, and we answer within a month. If you are in the EU you can also complain to your data protection authority; in Poland that is the UODO.

  10. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we say so on this page and by email before it applies.
